TRUE FAMILY LAW MEDIATORS

Now that you're facing a family law issue, you want out. At the very least, you want it to be as quick and painless as possible. We can't promise to make your problems go away, and we can't promise to make the process quick and painless. But we can help bring peace to each level of the conflict you face.

Our passion for peacemaking comes from the Gospel. When we resolve complex and emotional family law matters, we allow our clients not only to avoid a costly and emotionally damaging trial, but also to break the cycle of conflict.

Most importantly, mediation helps the kids. Your children feel the aftershock of the  conflicts between their parents. Like it or not, you will be tied to the parent of your child for a lifetime of parenting exchanges, decisions, and major life events. The better you as parents can learn to communicate and solve conflicts, the more your children will experience peace in their lives.

Mediators who focus on family law in its truest sense are rare. Counselors, therapists, pastors, and friends will help you with the "family" aspect, looking at the emotional and spiritual component. These important individuals will work on your communication, your relationship, and your personal journey.  On the other side of the family law coin, lawyers and financial advisers will help you with the "law" aspect—they will tell you your rights, what you stand to lose and gain, and the best strategy to reach your goals. Unfortunately, most mediators can’t offer more than one of these two important pieces of the puzzle.

But a true family law mediator plays neither the role of therapist nor lawyer.  The mediator must work with both people involved to figure out the deepest needs, desires, fears, and hopes driving each party with regard to every issue. The mediator then employs highly technical legal skill to address each of the complex legal issues in the case, in light of the needs, desires, fears, and hopes of each party to create a workable solution for parenting, monetary support, and division of property.

As family law mediators, we uniquely combine a passion for peacemaking with excellent legal skill to comprehensively resolve your legal case without the conflict, chance, and cost of trial.

HOW IT WORKS

When you schedule a mediation, we reserve the entire day (although you only pay for the time you use). We work with both parties and their attorneys to come to a resolution of their legal issues. We can help prepare a Memorandum of Understanding for the parties to file with the Court.

If you do not currently have an attorney, we recommend you get legal advice, because in the role of mediators we cannot give legal advice to either side. However, we are happy to work with unrepresented parties to come to peaceable resolutions to the issues. We can help both parties put their agreements to writing.
